Colortime Crafts Are Definitely A Funtime Craft

Back in November of 2012 I shared with you all an amazing discount code and gift ideas from our friends at Colortime Crafts. Our house from what the word in our new neighborhood is the house to come to for the cool crafts and fun things to do during playdates.

Recently Main Street Mama was offered to do a review of a Colortime Craft Pillowcase, Imagine our surprise when we opened the envelope and found not one but two inside. Main Main insisted I invite a friend over to help us with our review so being a good mom I did just that. We invited our friend Luke over and our Colortime Craft Definitly Became a Funtime Craft for our playdate.

With an All-Star Pillow Case and A Party Rock Pillow Case and some fabric markers the fun was about to begin!

All Star Pillowcase

Party Rock Pillowcase

The boys decided who would do which one and  together we read the very kid friendly directions. The boys enjoyed being able to do a craft where they were able to touch it right away since the fabric markers dried very quickly. I LOVED the fact that I did not have to iron it afterwards and everyone finished the project with clean hands and clothes!

Ready to Get Started

Once they finished coloring the pictures, they both decided to break out of the box and create some pictures on along the sides. When I asked the boys what they thought of there Colortime Crafts both boys thought it was AWESOME and my son right away suggestedwe should consider them as his party favors for his next birthday, which I just might do, with the 15% off discount Colortime is offering Main Street Mama readers using promo code 15USFG, this might be my best favor yet!

A VERY HAPPY Main Man

Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam 2013 Fun For The Whole Family

Last night Main Street  Mama and my main men had the pleasure of being guests of Feld Motor Sports at opening night of Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam 2013 at Nassua Coliseum in Uniondale Long Island. Having already interviewed Bill Braukmann earlier this week driver of Shock Wave our whole house was pumped for some four wheeling fun. Bill had warned us to bring earplugs because it would be a bit loud, it was but luckily dear hubby brought along a big bag.

We arrived at Nassua Coliseum and got right into action with special VIP treatment including a track walk and a one on one interview with Becky McDonough driver of El Toro Loco   , right away we took a liking to Becky as she was a female driver and I personally loved the teeth on her truck. Becky grew up in Minnesota, and fell in love with Monster Jam after she went to her first show when she was in 9th grade. Everyone told Becky she was crazy but as she has showed them if you really want something you GO FOR IT and that she did!

The excitement continued as the kids were treated to great swag bags courtesy of  Feld Entertainment complete with Grave Digger soft cars and a 2013 Souvenier Yearbook to collect autographs of all the drivers. We met John Seasock  driver of Grinder who admitted to us, he is big into social media and even tried to convince me to try Tout, joking we can talk about Tout if I tweeted at him on Twitter. We were able to go from truck to truck and even met Jimmy Creaton driver of Bounty Hunter and his wife Dawn Creaton driver of Scarlett Bandit. Everyone signed autographs and were super sweet to all the fans young and old.

John Seasock was great with all the fans

Once we heard the rev of the engines we knew it was time to put in our earplugs, take our seats and enjoy the fun and FUN is what it was. To quote my favorite fan my son he said this is Awesome and this is the kind of fun I am talking about, which definitely made my husband and I happy! During small intermissions while they clean the track and get ready for the next leg of the competition Sprocket  the clown keeps the crowd pumped with giveaways , dances and entertainment. We were having so much fun and did not care it was snowing outside or even wondered how the roads would be for our ride home, we were living in the moment.

Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam Let’s Chat with Bill Baukmann Driver of Shockwave

Advanced Auto Parts Monster Jam Let’s Chat with Bill Baukmann Driver of Shockwave

Bill Braukmann Driver of ShockWave

Last week I was fortunate enough to provide my readers with a chance to win tickets to Monster Jam. Yesterday morning I had an amazing time being able to chat one on one with the great driver of Shockwave Bill Braukmann

Bill Braukmann interviewed by Lynda Lederer-Natale

Lynda: Bill tell me how you got involved in Monster Truck, was it a life long dream?                                                                                                     Bill: It was actually a midlife crisis it was either I get an earring , grow out my hair and get a girlfriend or drive a monster truck I chose the later, although I think it might have been cheaper the other way. Being self employed it was easy for me to continue to work and follow midlife where it took me.

Lynda: I am sure your family is happy you chose this form of midlife crisis?                                                                                                                Bill: Yes my wife Kim , my 19 year old daughter Jessica and my 17 year old son Billy are all very happy and are involved in it as well. They travel with me and it is a family operation, my 24 year old nephew even works on my crew. We travel in a motor home so our dog can come to, but the camera is always on us!

Lynda: Since both children will be driving in 2014 , how does Kim feel about them driving?                                                                                         Bill: She is comfortable with it, they grew up around Monster Trucks and it is part of the family business. For my children it is 10 minutes of fame, we have another truck we are working on which will come out in 2014 the same year both Jessica and Billy will start drive. We also have a reality show coming out based on our family and the Truck it’s a great ego boost, but I always remind my kids that you can’t forget what you have to do come Monday morning.

Lynda: Can you give any advise to someone who might want to get into Monster Trucks as a career or crisis?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Bill: It is a good career, you get to travel, visit various cities, it’s very very expensive. You need to start from the bottom up before you can drive, watch it, be part of a pit crew, you really need to understand the lifestyle, know the truck before you drive it and be prepared for a demanding schedule.

Lynda: I am someone who has always driven a truck , when I drive a regular car I feel the let down, how is it coming off the track and then having to go home in your car?                                                                                                                                            Bill: It takes awhile for the adrenaline to wears off, it is a great rush. The perception of where your car will or won’t fit is definitely changed mine after all Monster Trucks fit in very tight spaces.

Lynda: Bill will you share with my readers your all time favorite memory from Monster Jam?                                                                                                                                                              Bill: We were on the road and my nephew who was around 11 years old at the time got to drive the mini monster with SparkPlugs the clown, SparkPlugs definitely marched to a different drummer, so when my nephew got out of the car he announced to everyone that he was going to run away with SparkPlugs and drive the gas powered truck. He is now 24 and works with the crew and we all have a good belly laugh about it to this day.

Lynda: We are going to Monster Jam this coming weekend, any recommendations you have for me and my family?                                                                                                                               Bill: BRING EARPLUGS, I never realized how loud it was till I was doing a promotion in the stands and was like WOW this is loud. Take the kids to the Pit Party, they get to see the Trucks up close, take pictures, get autographs , do the meet and greets. For me the best is the feeling you get when a kid looks at you and says WOW you drive that truck.

Lynda: Bill it was a pleasure speaking with you this morning, Thank you for taking the time today to chat with me and inform the readers of Main Street Mama. Sorry we won’t see you this weekend at Nassau Coliseum, it has been all my husband and son have been talking about for days.                                                                                                                                              Bill: The pleasure was all mine, I will be at Izod Center next weekend February 1st & February 2nd, come on out and visit me there would love to meet you!

StarWars, Angry Birds, Pokemon, Skylanders Oh MY

Starwars, Angry Birds, Pokemon, Skylanders try saying those fast four times…OH MY!

If your house is like mine right now we are leaving the Starwars phase unless of course they are Angry Birds Starwars  and lets not forget Pokemon.  Since Santa has brought us Skylanders Giants well that has opened a whole new door, world maybe even universe for us.

I had a hard enough time keeping up with with Starwars when it started about a year ago. AngryBirds ,I will admit I  enjoy myself and my favorite bird is red bird and there are times I find myself playing AngryBirds Seasons for hours on end.   BUT… Pokemon black, Pokemon white, Pikachu , yellow, gold, silver, crystal  the list goes on and on and now we have entered Skylanders Universe with Giants, Sypro’s Adventure, LightCore and lets not forget Limted too.

Recently after our toothfairy visit we took main man to Toys R Us so that we can buy him a small gift for loosing his first tooth of course he wanted another Skylander so we went to the gaming section and the wall was bigger then I remembered it from holiday shopping. I was overwhelmed and was quite shocked when I asked the store attendant if certain characters would work on one portal or the other and even they could not answer, so how am I supposed to know? Who would have thought little boys toys could be so difficult?

I posted my question to facebook and even got some responses asking what I was talking about, was I losing it and could I please ask my question in english. Thankfully I have a few friends whose son’s are a little bit older then main man was able to answer my questions and reassured me that thankfully we bought the right men for the portal we have!

As insane as it is, I would not change our forever changing gaming be it board or video games it definitly keeps life interesting. Having all this boy game knowledge also helps me be in the know at work where I manage a pediatric dental practice and can use my home grown knowledge to help ease the kids into trusting me because I am cool and after all can speak their language and know what they would like or be into at this given time.

So has Starwars, Angry Birds, Pokemon or Skylanders taken over your house yet or please do share what could be on the next horizon for us!

ToothFairy Time

A few months back I wrote a blog asking does the toothfairy need a a 2nd job? In that blog I had mentioned that by National toothfairy day 2013 we could be on the verge of losing a tooth or in the full throws of the toothfairy visiting. Well yesterday was the day that that main main lost his first tooth, last night was toothfairy time and the toothfairy made her first visit of at least 19 more to our house.

Nicholas has been home from school sick this week. He has been asking me all week if he coughs hard enough will it knock his tooth out? I have told him eating apples, carrots and pretzels will help it fall out when it’s ready. I left for work this morning and as soon as I got into work he called me so super excited that the first of four loose teeth had fallen out or got pulled out by his apple!

Now the pressure is on as I had discussed previously that the toothfairy could easily go broke having to put up money for each tooth and then let’s not forget mom and dad have to come through with a little something for the big occasion.

So once Nicholas got tucked into bed, and asked  ALOT of questions about how “she” would get into our house? Would she move his pillow? Would she leave money or a book? Does the money have to go into his bank for college? He even asked if she was a she or he?

Well the toothfairy came in quietly and she magically got the tooth , left money and YES she is a SHE!

Both big daddy and I have decided $20.00 for the first tooth would be good and since yes that money needs to go in the piggy bank for college , we will go get a skylanders guy this weekend from mom and dad!

Toothless Happiness

For those of you who know me, know I LOVE any reason to celebrate so it shouldn’t be a surprise that a lil love ice cream cake from carvel came home with me last night honoring Nicholas and his 1st lost tooth and while many have commented that I may have gone overboard with a cake to celebrate, why not celebrate life’s small moments as you never know what tomorrow will bring, and each moment in a child’s life should be special!

My son wants to know all there is to know about trucks and what makes them go and climb over things.

In our house the talk this week is all about the upcoming Monster Jam 2013 coming to Nassau Coliseum January 25th-27th and Izod Center February 1st and 2nd. The Party in the Pits on January 25 from 5:30 – 6:30 PM and January 26 from 11:00 – 2:00 PM gives fans the opportunity to view the trucks up close and meet the drivers of the massive monster trucks.
