LEGOLAND® DISCOVERY CENTER WESTCHESTER OPENS ITS DOORS!

 It was just two short months ago that I had the pleasure of writing that LegoLand Discovery Center Westchester was looking for Mini Model Builders for their Junior construction panel and this past Wednesday they celebrated their grand opening of LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Westchester at Ridge Hill in Yonkers. During the  morning  ceremonies Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano, Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, and officials from both  Forest City Ratner Companies and Merlin Entertainments were joined by 13 metro-area schoolchildren wearing yellow hardhats. While everyone looked on  the attraction’s life-size, lovable mascot “Bertie,” smashed through a 7’ x 10’ wall constructed of colorful LEGO® bricks, revealing the entrance to a line of anxious guests waiting to enter.

Just the fifth such location in the nation and the first in the Northeast, LEGOLAND Discovery Center Westchester is a $12 million, 32,300 square-foot indoor attraction. The attraction which is geared towards children ages 3-10 and their families.  Legoland has a range of educational and interactive experiences including hands-on play areas, a 4D cinema, master classes led by Master Model Builders, two LEGO amusement rides and MINILAND. The venue’s signature re-creation of landmark locations and buildings throughout Westchester County and New York City, made entirely out of more than 1 million LEGO bricks is simply amazing.

 Bruce Ratner, chairman ad CEO of Forest City Ratnew Companies said “From a very young age children have always had the desire to build—but LEGO bricks and LEGOLAND Discovery Centers have taken things to an entirely new level and the options are as endless as their imaginations.”  With the opening of Merlin’s wonderful and educational LEGOLAND Discovery Center, Ridge Hill enhances its status as a premier regional location for shopping and dining and family entertainment in the great city of Yonkers, in the great county of Westchester, in the great state of New York!

LegoLand is a  fun and educational destination that is also ideal for groups and school trips, providing teachers with a wide range of hands-on learning experiences. LegoLand brings the worlds of math, science and technology to life outside the classroom.

Last week Main Man and I had the pleasure of attending a press preview open house. Main man loved everything about LegoLand’s attractions so much so  that he has requested a season pass for his upcoming birthday. A gift that is definitely for the whole family and will be gotten way before May!
