Main Street Mama Gets Back to Blogging

Main Street Mama Gets Back to Blogging

Just about two years ago, I founded Main Street Mama. When I sat and thought about what or who Main Street Mama would be, it would be a blog about the Main Mama in charge, the Main Mama you see walking down the street. Yes I would host personal giveaways, share insight but it would be centered around who I was, who I strive to be, the things I approve and reccommend for my own family and who I associate with. About a year ago life got in the way for this #fulltimeworkingmomwhodoesitall, but now it’s time Main Street Mama Gets Back to Blogging.

So much has happened since my last “real” blog post at the start of last summer. The summer of 2013 started with a surprise trip to Disney for my son’s sixth birthday. We went to Hershey Park, beaches, pools, our families lake house and had what we thought would be the summer of our lives. Main Man would be starting first grade and all was right in the world.

My mom who lived with us the majority of the year and spent her summers at a campground with my aunt came home on Labor Day weekend, we were all excited to have her home as in all reality she was the chief, cook and bottle washer of our home while I worked.  We missed her when she was gone, but made regular trips on the weekends to see her and mainman had spent a few days during the summer with her. All of a sudden my son said to us that grandma was talking funny. When we went over to her , we had realized she was suffering a stroke, we quickly called 911 and from that moment on our lives forever changed. Mom did not recover from her stroke and passed away just four short days later.

We were also trying to expand our family and shortly after my moms passing we suffered a miscarriage. It was at that time we decided that our family although not perfect to many was perfect for us. Our son is a well rounded, smart, funny and well as his grandma called him a #sweetboy.

Although I don’t think any of us will ever be over the death of my mother, we are trying to carry on the way she would have wanted us to, we went on our annual family vacation over the holiday season to St.Marten and toasted my mother and enjoyed the #familyfirst time with our cousins, aunts and uncles and #friendswhoarefamily.

When 2014 began I wondered how so much has happened since our trip to Disney, my son was in the full swing of first grade, he had fallen in love with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), began reading stronger, had developed a love for soccer, basketball and was awaiting the start of baseball season. At that time I thought I needed Main Street Mama to Get Back to Blogging , but trying to do it all while working 60 hours a week without my mom was not easy. While after bedtime was my time to sit and write, it became the time for me do laundry, prep the next days dinner and make sure the after school coverage was taken care of.

Now we are at the halfway mark of 2014 summer has begun, life is what summer should be about, longer easier days. Pool parties, family vacations, BBQ’s and lots of #familyfirst time. I have registered for Blogger Bash 2014 #BBNYC with two of my BFF’s and bloggers from around the USA.  I am looking forward as Main Street Mama Gets Back to Blogging and I hope you will join Main Street Mama and take a walk down the street with me.

  1. I am so sorry for the loss of your mom & hope that by you cherishing all of your memories of her it eases the void. If nothing else, from her you learn that tomorrow is never promised and don’t wait for “Someday” do it now. Looking forward to reading as you get back to blogging.
