Many of you who follow along with Main Street Mama know that we are a #WWEFamily. When I first  became a #WWEMoms my son was becoming a #wrestlingaddict.  I was fortunate to be invited to meet WWE Chief Brand Officer and mom of 3 Stephanie McMahon. Upon meeting Steph we were introduced further to the WWE Brand. WWE was striving to incorporate family values back into their sports entertainment business. Those values start at the corporate level and trickle down to the athletes and to the fans. It’s one of the things we love most about WWE.

Shortly after becoming a #WWEMoms, WWE established Connor’s Cure . Connor’s Cure was established in honor of 8-year-old WWE fan Connor Michalek, a patient at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC who battled medulloblastoma, a rare tumor that affects the brain and spinal cord. To date, Connor’s Cure has raised nearly $1 million and assisted more than 100 families around the world. I will never forget our first WWE event where we learned about Connors Cure my than 6.5 yr old rested his head on my shoulder and cried. Later that night he came to me with $50.00 from his own wallet and asked me to buy a Connor’s Cure bracelet for all his friends.

This past week WWE and The V Foundation announced  a multi-year partnership.

The new partnership will expand Connor’s Cure outside of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation and support other top research centers and hospitals nationwide. As a result of the new partnership, funds raised by WWE will support Connor’s Cure through The V Foundation’s grant-making process. The V Foundation’s Scientific Advisory Committee, comprised of world-class physicians and research scientists, vets and awards top-rated grant proposals from the nation’s leading medical facilities. In addition, funding will continue to support the research being done at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.

WWE is committed to raising awareness and funds for pediatric cancer research throughout the year through the sale of Connor’s Cure bracelets, fundraising programs and through its global platforms including WWE Network and TV broadcasts, live events, and digital and social media.

Every year, 12,000-15,000 children are newly diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. Through the efforts of The V Foundation, progress is being made with cure rates for most pediatric cancers dramatically improving. The V Foundation has awarded nearly $20 million through 66 pediatric research grants to-date, including more than $5 million to pediatric cancer research in 2015.

Just in time for the 10th Anniversary of Surf’s Up the Original film about surfing penguins , Sony Pictures Animation and WWE Studios announced last week that in 2017 together they will release Surf’s Up 2: WaveMania.

In the upcoming movie Surf’s Up Wave Mana Cody Maverick, hungry for a new challenge, convinces an infamous big wave riding crew known as The Hang 5, voiced by WWE Superstars John Cena, The Undertaker, Triple H, WWE Diva Paige and Mr. McMahon, to let him join them on their journey to a mysterious surf spot known as The Trenches, where legend has it, they’ll find the biggest waves in the world. Cody soon discovers that the life he left behind might be more heroic than what any death-defying wave has to offer.  Genndy Tartakovsky’s protégé Henry Yu (story artist on Sym-Bionic Titan and both Hotel Transylvania feature films) makes his directorial debut with this project, which is produced by Michelle Wong (production manager on Hotel Transylvania 2) and features computer animation from Rainmaker Entertainment Inc.  Abdul Williams (Lottery Ticket) is writing the screenplay.

 “We are thrilled to be working with Sony Pictures Animation in bringing Cody Maverick back to audiences for more adventures, paired with our WWE Superstars in what promises to be a fun animated film for the entire family,” said Michael Luisi, WWE Studios President.

When I first became a #WWEMOM I had the pleasure of screening Scooby Doo WrestleMania Mystery and ever since I have become hooked on WWE along with my son. We look will patiently await the arrival of Surf’s Up 2: WaveMania!

WWE Week Kicks off December 20th on USA Network and I know where my husband and my son will be glued every night along with myself.

As we embark on the Holiday Season our friends at WWE and USA Network have an exciting line up kicking off on Sunday December 20th with already a family favorite of ours Santa’s Lil Helper. The movie staring Mike the Miz and WWE Diva Paige an original comedy from WWE and 20th Century Fox will even put Bray Wyatt in the holiday spirit.

Our traditional Monday Night of our family gathering on the couch will get a little better on December 21st when Monday Night Raw is live from Minneapolis. Not your ordinary Monday Night Raw,  because of the  annual fan voted Slammy Awards. The Slammy’s honor the best of the year with their own golden statue, of course Roman Reigns has my vote for best EVERYTHING.

Growing up over the holidays I remember watching Bob Hopes Tribute to the Troops. WWE has done a fantastic job now in it’s 13th year with WWE Tribute to the Troops. WWE brings together the best of sports entertainment, pop entertainment , and celebrity appearances. This tribute to honor and thank the servicemen and women who protect our country is a favorite of mine. In past years I have  recorded and watch over again throughout the holiday season. What a way to give back to those who give so much.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and once again our friends at WWE have joined forces with Susan G Komen to #RISEABOVECANCER and GO PINK!

To support Komen’s mission, WWE will utilize all its assets including WWE Network and TV broadcasts, live events, PSAs, digital and social media to generate awareness and encourage fans to get involved. Throughout the month, the WWE announcer table, entrance ramp and ring skirts will be co-branded and the middle ring rope turned pink to promote the fight against breast cancer. Fans will also have the option to turn their Facebook and Twitter profiles pink to show their support. In addition, a co-branded WWE and Susan G. Komen flag will be flown outside of WWE’s corporate headquarters.

“We are so grateful for our partnership with WWE,” said Christina Alford, SVP of development for Susan G. Komen. “Their ‘Rise Above Cancer’ campaign reaches women in communities across the country, bringing awareness and helping us fund lifesaving research, and support to families living with breast cancer who need our help today.”

Komen and its support of breast cancer research and awareness,” said WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon. “WWE remains deeply committed to this movement, as we utilize our global platforms to raise awareness and funds for a disease that impacts so many people around the world.”

Susan G. Komen and WWE have a history of success in raising awareness and funds for the fight against breast cancer. The partnership launched in 2012 and has generated more than $1.5 million for Komen to date. This past May, Komen and WWE teamed up again to support the Washington, D.C. Race for the Cure and National Women’s Health Week.

While watching Monday night Raw this past monday I was touched when all the superstars came our wearing their #RISEABOVECANCER ring gear, but what touched me more was that my 8 yr old son went and got a WWE gift card he had and asked if he could buy a shirt to wear and make a donation. I believe it was this segment that moved him to do so!

Last Monday like we do every Monday  I sat with my 8 year old son Nicholas and we watched Monday Night Raw. Earlier in the week I had watched a video on Triple H’s Facebook page showing a very special young man named Elijah Mainville receiving a Money In The Bank briefcase. from The briefcase contained a real life WWE CONTRACT, just like the one Seth Rollins carried into WrestleMania 31.

Elijah Mainville is an 8 year old Lifelong WWE Fan. Elijah who is battling Neuroblastomia since the age of 3 has been receiving treatment for the past 5 years. In April of this past year Elijah and his family were told his cancer was in remission to only learn in July that it had returned.

Elijah like many kids has a dream of growing up and becoming a wrestle, I can only imagine his compassion as I have a son the same age with the same dream. This past spring while WWE launched auditions for their new reality show Tough Enough, Elijah decided to make an audition video and his mom posted it to You Tube.

The Authority, which consists of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon saw Elijah’s video and in true WWE fashion decided to make this little boys dream come true. After Monday Night Raw went off the air last week an arena full of the WWE Universe looked on as this Lifelong Fan signed his WWE Contract!

Since Elijah’s favorite wrestlers are The Undertaker and StarDust it would only be right that StarDust be present and welcome Elijah or as he will be known to the WWE Universe Drax Shadow to the WWE family.

DoSomething.org and WWE Take On Bullying For Second Straight Year

For the Second Straight Year WWE has partnered with DoSomething.org to take on Bullying. After blogging about this program last year, my son was proud to do many projects for school on anti-bullying.

DoSomething.org is one of the largest global organizations for young people and social change, and global entertainment company WWE and its Be a STAR anti-bullying initiative, are teaming up for The Bully Text: Superstar Edition. The campaign, now in its second year, gets young people to take action around bullying by playing an SMS text message game.

 

From August 3rd until Monday, August 31, young people can virtually work their way through six levels of scenarios with guidance from WWE Superstars and Divas, including Roman Reigns®, Dean Ambrose®, Paige®, Natalya® and Alicia Fox®. Then, each player is given options to stand up and speak out against bullying. For example, “You sit behind Roman. Someone in the back of the bus keeps throwing paper airplanes at him. Do you A) Play it cool- it’s not your fight or B) play Superman?” Along the way, players will see how their anti-bullying skills compare to others, and ultimately whether they’ve earned the WWE World Heavyweight Championship title in bullying prevention. Every player will also receive the chance to win a Be a STAR rally at his or her school or community center.

 

“WWE’s massive reach and stellar talent have helped us activate thousands of young people around anti-bullying,” said Naomi Hirabayashi, chief marketing officer at DoSomething.org. “We’re excited to rally WWE fans around this issue for year two to make it bigger and better than ever!”
