Me, My Mom and My Sister Happy Mother's Day

Me, My Mom and My Sister
Happy Mother’s Day

Last Sunday was Mother’s Day and what better way to spend a day celebrating me than doing something with main man, main man, my mom, my sister and her daughters. After a nice Mother’s Day breakfast and a mani & pedi for MOM we headed out to Field Station Dinosaurs Seacaucus N.J. and in just 40 minutes from Pleasantville we were about to embark on the experience of a lifetime.

Field Station Dinosaurs is an outdoor exhibition of 31 life sized animatronic dinosaurs that features entertainment, workshops and games. It’s a walking park and you can participate in these programs at your leisure.

Upon walking into the park Main Man could not wait once he heard the roar of the dinosaurs to see what was in store after we picked up our Commander Passes. Once inside the roars, moving tails along with the moving tails and mouths had even my 17 year old niece glad she came. Immediately she started making a video to tweet to her friends.

At each station there is information about that dinosaur. You can see on a map where these dinosaurs were found and what year each dinosaur was discovered. Everyone is encouraged to get their credentials at different stations to help them in becoming a Paleontologist.

The park is definitely geared to children both in age and at heart. There was something for everyone. Coloring stations, LAI building stations, interactive shows, dino dig and even a 3-D movie.

Westchester’s “Ridge Hill Summer Concert Series

Shop, Dine, Rock & Roll at Westchester’s Ridge Hill Summer Concert Series”

Enjoy FREE Live Music at Westchester’’s Ridge Hill!

Last Thursday Westchester’s Ridge Hill announced the upcoming line up for  Summer Concert Series 2013. The concerts kick off on Thursday June 26th and take place over 6 thursday evenings throughout the summer.

THURSDAY, June 27– Bernie Williams and His All-Star Band:Bernie Williams, former Yankee, and four-time MLB World Series Champion, is taking his talents onto the stage. Growing up in Puerto Rico, Bernie developed a love for flamenco music at an early age; when he was eight, his father gave him a guitar and sparked a second life-long obsession. After retiring from baseball, Williams released his first album, “The Journey Within,” to critical acclaim. His second album, “Moving Forward,” featured guest stars including Bruce Springsteen and Jon Secada, and produced a #1 single, immortalizing the smooth Latin Jazz rhythms of Bernie Williams and His All Star Band with a Latin Grammy nomination for the album. Bernie is the author of Rhythms of the Game: The Link Between Music and Athletic Performance, about “the symbiotic relationship between musical artistry and athletic performance through the eyes of a man who has mastered both.” (Raindate:July 1)

THURSDAY, July 11 – Shadows of the 60s – A Tribute to the Four Tops: Dave Revels and company pay tribute to the tremendous legacy of The Four Tops in this Tribute production show, Shadows of The 60’S, performing the group’s hits spanning three decades, from the 1960’s to the 1980’s. Considered by many the best male vocal group and lead singer ever produced by Motown, The Four Tops hold the distinction of being the longest-lived group in rock/soul history (41 years) without personnel change (1956-1997). The Four Tops reigned supreme from 1964-1967 under the songwriting team of Holland Dozier Holland. Come join us on tour as we take this very special walk with you down memory lane. (Rain date: July 15)

THURSDAY, July 18 – Abraxas – The Santana ExperienceFormed in March of 2006, with one goal, to be the best, the members ofAbraxas have honed their show to be not just a musical tribute to the legendary Carlos Santana, but an experience that you’ll remember for a long time to come. Abraxas: The Santana Experience has played around the world with musicians from acts like Toto, Blue Oyster Cult, and Santana’s own band. This seven-member act is fronted by AlexLigertwood, who performed with Santana for over 16 years and sang, wrote and/or co-wrote hits such as “Open Invitation,” “She’s Not There,” “Hold On,” “The Sensitive Kind,” “All I Ever Wanted,” and many others.Abraxas brings virtuosity and passion to everything folks love about the Latin legend—propulsive Latin percussion, fiery lead guitar work, keyboard wizardry, lush vocals, and, of course, the GROOVE. (Rain date: July 22)

THURSDAY, July 25 – Wade Preston & The Movin’ Out Band (5-piece): The Movin’ Out Band is the smokin’ original band from the Tony Award-winning, Grammy nominated Broadway musical, “Movin’ Out”. The band includes members of Billy Joel’s own band, and is fronted by the incredibly talented pianist and vocalist Wade Preston, who played the original ‘Piano Man’ in the hit musical, hand-selected by Billy Joel himself. The Movin’ Out Band performs all of the famous Billy Joel hits, from “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant”, “Piano Man” and “Movin’ Out” to “Just The Way You Are”, “Pressure,” “Angry Young Man”, “Big Shot,” “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me” and “New York State Of Mind”….plus other great songs from that “other” classic rock piano master, Elton John. (Rain date: July 29)

THURSDAY, August 1– Tramps Like Us – Bruce Springsteen Cover Band: Two decades of road-tested musicianship have earnedTramps Like Us distinction as the most revered Springsteen cover act on the planet. The only Springsteen cover band to be endorsed by former Springsteen manager Mike Appel, the group captures that classic Springsteen sound while bringing a swagger and energy reminiscent of the boss himself. Unlike other tribute bands who attempt to impersonate or emulate their source in every respect, from looks to clothing to gestures, Tramps Like Us concentrates on the music itself. Formed in 1990, and featuring a lineup of seasoned and professional musicians with a repertoire of over 100 songs, Tramps Like Us has been dedicated to enjoying and sharing Bruce’s music in a live setting.(Rain date: August 5)

THURSDAY, August 8 – Shower the People – James Taylor Tribute:Featuring the voice and guitar work of Neil Donell, “Shower the People: The Music of James Taylor” is a faithfully rendered presentation of more than two dozen Taylor classics including the iconic “Fire And Rain” and Carole King’s “You’ve Got a Friend.” The concert takes audiences through a retrospective journey of JT’s music, with entertaining anecdotes about the history and creative process behind many of these musical gems. Donell, respected as Canada’s premier session vocalist and called “the man of a thousand voices” in the media, leaves audiences mesmerized by his meticulous performance. Accompanied by a group of the most accomplished musicians and singers in the country, Donell and Shower the People: The Music of James Taylor appeal to wide range of audience demographics and musical tastes. (Rain date: August 9th)

It was just two short months ago that I had the pleasure of writing that LegoLand Discovery Center Westchester was looking for Mini Model Builders for their Junior construction panel and this past Wednesday they celebrated their grand opening of LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Westchester at Ridge Hill in Yonkers. During the  morning  ceremonies Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano, Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, and officials from both  Forest City Ratner Companies and Merlin Entertainments were joined by 13 metro-area schoolchildren wearing yellow hardhats. While everyone looked on  the attraction’s life-size, lovable mascot “Bertie,” smashed through a 7’ x 10’ wall constructed of colorful LEGO® bricks, revealing the entrance to a line of anxious guests waiting to enter.

Just the fifth such location in the nation and the first in the Northeast, LEGOLAND Discovery Center Westchester is a $12 million, 32,300 square-foot indoor attraction. The attraction which is geared towards children ages 3-10 and their families.  Legoland has a range of educational and interactive experiences including hands-on play areas, a 4D cinema, master classes led by Master Model Builders, two LEGO amusement rides and MINILAND. The venue’s signature re-creation of landmark locations and buildings throughout Westchester County and New York City, made entirely out of more than 1 million LEGO bricks is simply amazing.

Bruce Ratner, chairman ad CEO of Forest City Ratnew Companies said “From a very young age children have always had the desire to build—but LEGO bricks and LEGOLAND Discovery Centers have taken things to an entirely new level and the options are as endless as their imaginations.”  With the opening of Merlin’s wonderful and educational LEGOLAND Discovery Center, Ridge Hill enhances its status as a premier regional location for shopping and dining and family entertainment in the great city of Yonkers, in the great county of Westchester, in the great state of New York!

LegoLand is a  fun and educational destination that is also ideal for groups and school trips, providing teachers with a wide range of hands-on learning experiences. LegoLand brings the worlds of math, science and technology to life outside the classroom.

Bello Premieres in Bello Mania At New Victory Theater

Bello Nock, the circus superstar Time Magazine calls “America’s Best Clown,” will amuse and amaze children of all ages as he
performs his unique blend of comic daredevilry in a theatrical setting for his brand new show, Bello ManiaAdding a unique andpersonal touch to the big thrills and laughter audiences have come to expect from their favorite entertainer, Bello will be joined on stage by his daughter Annaleise and supported back stage by his wife, Jennifer, and daughter Amariah. The U.S. premiere of Bello Mania is a true family affair that will perform at The New Victory Theater, 209 West 42nd Street, from March 15-31, 2013.

“I’m really excited about Bello Mania, because I have always wanted to create a show of my own that gives the audience a sneak peek into my world,” said Bello, who will wow audiences with stunts on a sway pole, balance a chair on a high wire and perform tricky trampoline mayhem as only he can do. “Every life has a story and I want to share a little of mine, while doing what I love. Bello Mania is as much about honoring my unique family heritage as it is about bringing thrills and everlasting memories to kids of all ages,” he concluded.

His wife, Jennifer, writes and directs, while daughter Amariah keeps things in line backstage as the production stage manager. Though she won’t be wearing Bello’s signature gravity-defying hairdo, 16 year-old Annaliese follows her father’s footsteps to become an eighth generation performer born to a family of daredevils, ballerinas, equestrians and opera singers.
Born Demetrius Alexandro Claudio Amadeus Bello Nock in Sarasota, Florida, Bello is the most honored modern day circus celebrity.  He is featured in the 2013 edition of the Guinness World Book of Records for the first ever high wire walk over a cruise ship at sea; in 2011, he received the circus world’s highest honor, the Gold Clown (presented by Princess Stephanie of Monaco), at the Monte Carlo International Circus Festival. Bello was the Ringling Museum’s 2012 “Circus Celebrity of the Year,” and in 2009 was the youngest person ever inducted into the Circus Ring of Fame. He’s won the Silver Clown in Monte Carlo, the Gold Lion in Lausanne, Switzerland, the Prix Special in Grenoble, France, and again at the Daidogei World Cup Festival in Japan. Bello has also won the Walt Disney Award for Creative Entertainment.

He spent several years with Mexico’s Circo Atayde before joining the prestigious Big Apple Circus in 2000. He stayed with the company for three seasons, leaving after his final tour, Bello and Friends. Beginning in 2004, he wooed millions as a star of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® Circus, becoming the only person in the company’s history to have a production named after him. The show was called Bellobration, and toured the U.S. from 2007-2008.

Bello also designs and builds all of his own stunts and riggings, including the Double Wheel of Steel and the Aqua Trap.  As a self-proclaimed “comic daredevil,” he has hung by his toes under a helicopter flying over the Statue of Liberty, walked a high wire from the NYC Ballet to Avery Fisher Hall, repelled off of Madison Square Garden and ridden an elephant through the Mid-Town Tunnel.

Bello Mania is his first independent production. Performing alongside him is Dave Cox, Zebulon Fricke and Annaliese Nock. The cast is accompanied by a creative team of Jennifer Nock for Direction, David Miller for Set Design, Guido Naus for Musical Direction, Eric Winterling and Kay Torralva for Costume Design and Steve Curtis for Safety and Technical Direction.

Bello Mania is recommended for everyone 4 and over.
